Migration ANNOUNCEMENT – New DHA process for Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) applicants

A new process for visitor visa applications has been announced today by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

From July 1, all paper visa applications for Subclass 600 (Sponsored Family Visa) must be sent to a designated address in Sydney, regardless of the location of the Sponsor. Previously paper applications were to be sent to either Sydney or Brisbane depending on the location of the sponsor.

Visitor visas enable the holder to stay in Australia for a period of three, six or 12 months for tourist, family visit or business purposes. Business stream visitor visas allow you to carry out limited business activities. This explicitly restricts paid employment in Australia.

The fees for a Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) in the Business stream from the Department of Home Affairs range from AUD$140 to AUD$1020 and are normally processed within 1 – 4 weeks from the lodgement date.
